BLADENBORO — Authorities are still searching for answers in the death of a 20-year-old Cerro Gordo woman last September.

Amber Babson was last seen alive around 5 a.m. at a home on Pleasant Garden Road on Sept. 14. According to reports, she left a small nightclub called the Boom Boom Room and later knocked on a resident’s door seeking a ride.

The woman who lived at the home reported that after she spoke with Babson, she went back inside her home to call 911. When she returned to the door, the young woman was no longer on the porch, Bladen County Sheriff Steve Bunn said.

“The report indicated that the girl (Babson) had been drinking and appeared to be upset,” Bunn said.

A few minutes after the resident called authorities, officers arrived at the scene to find Babson, who had apparently been struck by at least one vehicle, lying in the road, reports showed.

The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigation is continuing to search for leads on the case. Anyone who has any information about the events of that evening are urged to contact the BCSO at 862-6960 or the SBI.
