Groups of volunteers are being sought to join the effort to make Bladen County clean and beautiful. Church and youth groups, businesses, organizations, clubs, school classes and any other interested individuals are invited to participate.
Those who want to join may either conduct a roadside or littered area clean up in Bladen County and/or restore or beautify a public area by planting flowers or trees.
Each participant will receive a one-day pass to the White Lake Water Park that can be used during the 2009 season. Drawings will also be held for prizes including cash and NASCAR race tickets.
Special cash prizes will be given to the project with the most positive impact and the most unusual item picked up. Each team leader will have the opportunity to nominate the “hardest worker” on each team, and those names will go into a drawing for a special cash prize as well.
The event is being sponsored by Walmart, Bladen County Waste Management, White Lake Water Park and Smithfield Packing.
