SPOKANE, Wash. — Saquan Johnson stretched his hitting streak to three games on Thursday, but his Spokane Indians had their three-game win streak snapped in a 7-4 loss to the Vancouver Canadians.
Batting out of the No. 9 hole for Class A Spokane, Johnson ripped a line-drive double to left field in the top of the fifth inning and later scored for a 4-2 lead. He finished the game 1-for-4 and raised his batting average to .179 on the season.
During his three-game hit streak, Johnson is 5-for-10 with a double, triple, two home runs and three RBI.
But Johnson’s weekday success evaporated over the weekend.
On Friday night, Johnson was moved into the No. 2 hole and went 0-for-4 against Vancouver pitching. After sitting out Saturday’s game, Johnson went back to the No. 9 hole and against took an 0-for-4. He is now hitting .149 this season.
Spokane finished up a five-game series with Vancouver on Monday, and opens a three-game series at Tri-City on Tuesday.
The Indians are 12-25 in the East Division of the Northwest League.
