Bladen County Schools recently hosted the Southeast Region School Nurse Association of North Carolina workshop providing strategies to help the school nurse in working with the ADHD student. Vernette Gilbreath, a licensed psychological associate with Cumberland County Mental Health, gave an overview of the ADHD student and how to properly and effectively identify methods of intervention. Approaches to help control student hyperactivity, impulsiveness, and distractibility were outlined for the group. Several shared strategies they currently use to help curb the symptoms of ADHD in the classroom.
