BLADENBORO —The Boost the ‘Boro group is hoping some money will change hands on Saturday so it can be used to help save a historic building in the downtown district.
The group will host a barbecue and auction fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m., and it will take place at the very building they are trying to purchase and save — the old Bridger Corporation Building on the corner of Main and East Railroad streets.
The event is being billed as “A Big-Banging Bar-B-Que Event — Buying Back the ‘Boro.”
The barbecue will cost $6 per plate, and baked goods will also be available for purchase.
In addition, an auction is planned — and the group continues to accept auction items by contacting any Boost the ‘Boro member.
“We’d also like to get some ideas on how best to utilize the building,” said Hiram Hester, a Boost the ‘Boro member. “This is one of several fundraisers to help revive the building for use by citizens of the town.”
