Valentine’s Day has passed, but Cupid’s arrows are still zinging through the air. Voting for the Bladen Journal’s Virtual Valentines Contest is nearly ready to get under way, and there is still time for you to cast your ballot.

Voting ends on Saturday, March 3.

A number of Bladen County couples have entered their favorite memories of Valentine’s Day.

One of those entries is about a gentleman named Rob. His wife, who submitted the entry under the username cast8641, writes that, about six years ago, she and Rob took in their neice and nephew. With the addition of her niece and nephew, their household budget became very tight. She writes that her budget got so tight she eventually had to return her engagement and wedding rings as they could no longer afford to make the payments.

“About a year later, for Valentine’s Day my husband and I went to Wilmington for dinner,” she writes. “After we ate dinner he gets down on one knee and gave me my engagement and wedding band back. The jewelry store had kept it and he went back and got it.”

The complete story of Rob’s family and their Valentine’s Day entry can be found online at www.bladenjournal.com. Just click on the Virtual Valentine’s ad, then click the tab labeled “view entries” where you can read not only about Rob, but you can also read all of our other entries.

Read each entry carefully, then decide which one you think is the best before casting your votes. Prizes will be offered by our main sponsors: Lu Mil Vineyard, Fowler’s Jewelry and Dowless Catering.

Tell your finds about it, post it on Facebook, tweet about it on Twitter, and keep the votes coming in. Help us pick who shold be the Bladne Journal’s Virtual Valentine.
