He was a member of the Bladen County Mason Lodge 646 and the Bladen County Shriners. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lambert and Mary Belle Jones; two sisters, Tessie Johnson and Lois Anderson; and two brothers, Colon Jones and Hardy Lee Jones.
A joint funeral service for Mr. Jones and his wife of 59 years, Mary, will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Elizabethtown Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Bailey and Rev. D. L. Page officiating. Burial will follow in the Cypress Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. At other times, the family will receive friends at 15 Turtle Cove, White Lake.
Surviving are her son, Stanley Jones, her daughter, Brenda J. Graham and husband Jimmy; two grandchildren, Brandon and Briana Graham; two sisters, Mary Miles and Fannie Putman; and a brother Arnold Jones.
Donations may be made in his honor to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Fl. 33607-1460.
