With the warm, sunny days approaching, our weekends are quickly being planned with outdoor events. But in making your calendar of events, just remember the many fun-filled activities going on right here in Bladen County.
The first big Bladen event to kick up the dust this spring will be held this weekend. The annual Planter’s Day at Butler Farms in White Oak brings people from miles around, all ready to enjoy a weekend of tractor pulling and delicious food.
Filled with crafts booths, entertainment and competitions, there’s plenty to work up a good ol’ country appetite before heading to get a funnel cake or a plate of ribbon fries to munch during the antique tractor pull. You can even come out on Sunday morning for pancakes and church service.
Next weekend, the Spring and Grow Expo will wake up the town of Dublin as Lu Mil comes to life with visitors. From pig cooking and entertainment on Friday night to vendors galore and a dance on Saturday, there will be a little something for everyone.
There will even be a way for guests to help the fight against cancer. Plates full of savory Carolina barbecue will be sold, with proceeds benefiting Bladen County’s Relay For Life.
White Lake Water Festival and the Kelly Spring Festival, along with the pageants for each, are just around the corner with more chances for fun in the sun.
Even though we live in a small community, we sure know how to get people together for some kicking back and relaxing, and like most small southern communities, the activities usually involve food.
So instead of hitting the road to find warm weather fun, just stick right around here in our neck of the woods. There’s nothing like getting together with friends to enjoy a nice day in the country.
