Wilma Hughes, 80, of Tar Heel, went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 25, 2007 at New Hanover Regional Hospital, Wilmington.
Mr. Hughes was a teacher and coach at Tar Heel High School for 30 years. He continued to work as a volunteer coach with the girls athletic program from 1985 until his death. He also served in the South Pacific with the 82nd Airborne during WWII.
He was predeceased by his parents, Burroughs and Henrietta Hughes.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Darnell Hughes; son, Don Hughes of Vanceboro; daughters, Susan Hughes of Longwood, and Debra Morgan of Linden; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, at Tar Heel Baptist Church and at other times at the home. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at Tar Heel Baptist Church with the Rev. Warren Hill and the Rev. Tom Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in Tar Heel Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Girls Athletic Department, West Bladen High School.

Julia Autry Johnson, 85, of 2769 Johnsontown Road, Elizabethtown, died Sunday March 25, 2007 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Pleasant Hill Holiness Church by the Reverend Morilene Thompson. Burial will follow in the Autry Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Doris Jane Johnson, Ollie Mae Powell both of Elizabethtown; four sons, J.P. Johnson, Theodore Johnson, Jimmie Johnson all of Elizabethtown, Eugene Johnson of Milton, N.Y.; five brothers, Nathan Autry, Odell Autry, Daniel Autry, Milton Autry, Cleo Autry, all of Elizabethtown; one sister, Ester McLean, of Elizabethtown; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren
The public will be received from 1-7 p.m. Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home, in Garland.

James Foster McClain, 91, of 413 West Lewis St., died Wednesday, March 21, at Columbus Regional Healthcare System. The funeral was 3 p.m., Sunday, March 25 at St. James AME Chuch by the Rev. J.A. Richburg. Burial followed in the Campground Cemetery. Viewing will be at the church Sunday from 2-3 p.m., and there wil be no viewing after the service.

Mildred M. Moore, 89, of 4084 Carver Moore Road, Clarkton, died Friday, March 23, at Columbus Regional Healthcare System. The funeral will be noon, Tuesday, March 27 at Sandy Plain Baptist Church by the Rev. Ronald Campbell. Burial will be in the Mitchell Field Cemetery. Viewing will be at the Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville Monday from noon to 8 p.m., and Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time for service, and there will be no viewing after the service.
Surviving are three daughters, Susie Vermel Sumpter of Whiteville, Miriam Spaulding of the home, and Linda Moore of Clarkton; a son, Tyson Elwood Moore of Clrkton; a sister, Sarah Carlene Bowen of Chesapeake, Va.
