The East Bladen Lady Eagles dropped to third place in the Southeastern 1A/2A Conference standings after losing to the Fairmont Lady Tornadoes 54-45 in a contest played at East Bladen Tuesday night.
The Lady Eagles are still in first place among the 1A standings, but behind Fairmont and Red Springs in the overall league standings.
Fairmont took first place in the conference standings with a 7-1 league mark. Red Springs’ record is 6-1. The Lady Eagles record dropped to 6-2. East Bladen is 14-4 overall.
Fairmont took a 10-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, and led 23-16 at halftime. By the end of the third quarter, the Lady Eagles had pulled within a point at 36-35.
East managed to take a three-point lead midway the final period, but the Lady Tornadoes fought back to get the win.
Jatoya Kemp paced the Lady Eagles with a game-high 24 points, and Latajah Melvin chipped in with eight.
Shaniah Powell led the Lady Tornadoes with 22 points and Monique Floyd added 14.
East Bladen is scheduled to travel to South Robeson tonight to take on the Lady Mustangs.
