He was a post office employee and a veteran of the US Army.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p. m. Sunday at St. Luke AME Zion chnurch. Burial will be in Brooklyn Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Valeria Monroe Rogers; a daughter, Nikki A. Rogers olf Durham; two sons, Bertram M. Rogers of Whiteville and Brandon A. Rogers of Greensb oro; a sister, Sarah Rogers of New Mexico; four brothers, Jimmie Rogers and Johnny Rogers of Seattle, WA, Roy Fields of Maxton, and David Fields of Washington, DC; a grrandaughter, Nsaia B. Rogers of Whiteville; and a grandson, Malachia Richardson of Maryland.
A viewing will be held at Peoples Funeral Home in Whiteville on Saturday from 12 noon until 7:30 p. m. A viewing will be held at the church Sunday from 1 till 2 p. m. There will be a wake Saturday from 6:30 till 7:30 p. m. at the funeral home.
