KELLY - Mrs. Janie Kelly Squires, 102, died Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at home.
A native of Kelly, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glennie, and sons Elmer Glenn and Douglas Ray Squires. Mrs. Squires was very active in her community and a devoted member of her church, Centerville Baptist. She was a loving, dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She loved children and taught Children's Sunday School. She fed many a pastor and helped take care of the sick and homebound members of the community as long as she was able.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p. m. today (Friday) at Centerville Baptist Church with the Reverends Teddy Lawson, Jack Miller and Norman Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories cemetery in Kelly.
She is survived by two sons, Nelson Squires and wife Ethel Mae of Kelly and David Squires and wife Annette, of Snead's Ferry; a daughter, Avis Nelson and husband Gene of Norwood; 12 grandchildren, Audrey Dwiggins, Glenn Squires, Barbara Squires, Rosalind Campbell, Steve Squires, Lisa Gorman, Eric Squires, Kenneth Nelson, Dean Nelson, Robin Gray, Ray Squires, Blair Frick; 18 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
In her last years she was lovingly cared for by her grandson, Stephen Squires and his wife, Jeannie, as well as a group of loyal, dedicated women in the community.
Visitation will be held today from 1 until 3 prior to the service at Centerville Baptist Church.
