Bladen County American Legion Baseball Coach Joey Coleman has announced tryouts are for Sunday, April 22 at 4 p.m. at West Bladen High School.

All area high school baseball players are urged to attend the tryouts.

Lady Knights to open State softball playoffs tonight

The West Bladen Lady Knights' softball team is scheduled to host the East Columbus Lady Gators in the first round of the State 2-A playoffs tonight.

West Bladen earned the No. 1 seed from the Tri-Six Conference. East Columbus is the No. 2 seed from the Waccamaw Conference.

The Lady Knights, who lost to East Columbus twice during the regular season, go into the first-round game with a 16-4 record. The Lady Gators' record is 17-2.

With a win, West Bladen is scheduled to play tonight's winner between Swansboro (14-4 and the No. 1 seed from the East Central Conference) and Gray's Creek (the No. 3 seed from the Tri-Six Conference) Tuesday night.

If Swansboro wins, the second round game will be at Swansboro. If Gray's Creek wins the second round game will be at West Bladen, if West wins the opener.
