Elizabethtown man arrested for drugs in Bladenboro

A license check on Village Street resulted in a drug arrest for Bladenboro Police May 3.

Bladenboro Police Chief Ronnie Rising said Curtis Riggins, 46, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of crack cocaine, manufacturing marijuana and manufacturing cocaine. He was released by a magistrate on bond.

Riggins lives at 3207 Mercer Mill Rd., Elizabethtown.

Rising said Patrolman Kendall Kelly and other officers were working a license checkpoint on Village Street when Kelly noticed Riggins' registration had expired.

After asking Riggins to pull to the side of the road, rising said, Kelly asked for and got permission at search the car for weapons and contraband.

Rising said Kelly found four rocks of crack cocaine, several kernels, a small quantity of marijuana and other illegal material in the vehicle and on Riggins' person.
