Investigators have few leads in the Thursday hit and run death of a teenager.

N.C. Highway Patrol Sgt. H.L. Weissinger said Fuquan Ontreese McKoy was struck and killed on N.C. 211 just west of the Clarkton town limits around 9 p.m. He was riding a bicycle when he was hit.

McKoy, 16, lived at Lake Waccamaw, according to the Highway Patrol. He would have turned 17 next month.

It is not known why he was in the Clarkton area, Weissinger said, or what direction he was traveling when he was hit. It is also not known if he was wearing a helmet.

"We have very little to work with right now," Weissinger said. "We don't even know why he was over there."

Troopers are looking for a silver or gray vehicle with damage to the right front fender. The windshield may also be damaged, Weissinger said.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the N.C. Highway Patrol at 642-7169; the Bladen County Sheriff's Department at 862-41763, or the State Bureau of Investigation.

McKoy was the fourth person to die on Bladen County roads this year. The last occurred when three people were killed in a collision in March. Seven people died here in car wrecks last year.
