Trooper P.M. Sanders of the N.C. Highway Patrol said James Bondell Johnson was traveling north on Twisted Hickory near Britt Road when he lost control and wrecked Friday.
Sanders said the 2004 Mack truck was going an estimated 65 miles per hour when Johnson failed to negotiate a left hand curve. The truck overturned in the roadway when the load shifted.
The truck rolled over and stopped against a ditch. Damages were estimated at $80,000, Sanders said.
Johnson, who lives at 456 Booker T. Washington Rd., Clarkton, was seriously injured, but his wounds were not considered life-threatening, Sanders said. He will be charged with exceeding a safe speed for conditions, Sanders said.
The peanuts were salvaged, but the truck was a total loss, Sanders said.
