BCC ceremony honors GED, Adult High School Diploma graduates

Bladen Community College held its fifth annual Commencement of the Basic Skills Program on Thursday, September 9. Fifty-nine students were honored at the exercise held in the multipurpose building on the campus.

Of that number, 30 earned AHS (adult high school) certification and 29 graduated from the GED program.

Barbara Knight, senior Human Resource director of DuPont Fayetteville Works, delivered the commencement address.

Stephen Prince, director of Resource Development and Bladen Community College Foundation, presented the AHS Academic Scholarship to Joshua Bonner, the GED Academic Scholarship to Tuesday Cox-Smith, and the Perseverance Scholarship to Allen McLemore.

Dr. Melba McCallum, vice-president of Continuing Education, presented the candidates for graduation.

BCC Board of Trustees Chairperson Essic Williams Jr. recognized the candidates as graduates and made the charge to the graduates.

Ms. Jamik LeSane provided the vocal music for the program, and Tammy Melson was the pianist.
