Firefighters from across the region competed Sunday in the sixth annual White Lake Water Festival Firefighter com-petition.

Participants competed in three different events-the Tough Firefighter, Air Pack Relay, and Where's the Water.

While individuals competed in the Tough Firefighter competition, the other activities were team events.

First place winner in the Tough Firefighter contest was Russell Ballard of Bolivia; followed by David Bullard of Station 55 Elizabethtown and David Johnson of Lumberton.

In the Air Park Relay, where firefighters must dress in turnout gear and airpack, then advance before the next team member can do the same, Team One from Hallsboro took first place, Station 55 Elizabethtown second, and Team Two Hallsboro third.

Prospect VFD from Robeson County won the Where's the Water? Competition, with Bolivia taking second and Winter Park of Wilmington winning third.

All the events took place at the old White Lake airport, which is now used as a training ground for Station 58 White Lake.
