BLADENBORO - Emory Leo Thompson, 86, of 13004 Highway 131 North, died Thursday, August 14, at Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.
He worked at Newport News Shipyard for 35 years and was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Mae Dove Thompson.
The funeral service was conducted Sunday at 2 p. m. at Northside Baptist Church of Bladenboro with the Revs. Scott Lewis and K. F. Meismer officiating. Burial was in Old Pait Cemetery of Bladenboro.
Mr. Thompson is survived by two sons, Timmie Thompson of Bladenboro and Leo Thompson Jr. of Dublin; five daughters, Barbara Morrison of Mt. Airy, Penny Ketron of Tennessee, Wanda Johnson of Bladenboro, and Audrey McCall and Ethelean Moore, both of Virginia; 13 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Arrangements were handled by Lewis-Bowen Funeral Hone of Bladenboro.
