Bus schedules had typographical errors

This is in response to the letter from Mickey Nye (Bladen Journal, August 5) regarding the bus schedule printed in the back to school tabloid.

The times for some of the bus routes and pickups were wrong. This was due to a computer error and we did not catch the problem.

Our routes are monitored through a state system called TIMS (Transportation Information Management System) that uses speed of the bus, road conditions, number of stops, and other information to set potential schedules. An error in any of the data causes a mistake.

We did not catch the mistake before printing of the tabloid. We did talk with drivers and with schools and hope most of the corrected information was conveyed at open houses at schools.

We do not have children getting on the bus at 4:30 or 4:45 a. m. We are following basically the same time schedule as we have for the past several years.

We apologize for the mistake and any inconvenience caused. Thanks to Mickey Nye for reading the tabloid and catching this error.
