ELIZABETHTOWN -George Thomas (Tom) Roberts Sr. died Friday, June 20. He was 75.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and a former employee of CP&L. He was retired from the Town of Elizabethtown as Public Works Director and most recently retired as the Fixed Base Operator at Curtis L. Brown Jr. Field in Elizabethtown.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Smith Roberts, and his son, George Thomas Roberts Jr. Mr. Roberts was the son of the late George W. and Sallie H. Roberts.
The funeral service was conducted Monday at 2 p. m. at Elizabethtown Baptist Church with the Rev. David Elks officiating. Burial was in Elizabethtown City Cemetery.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Laura "Patsy" Johnson Roberts; a sister, Colline Roberts of Wake Forest; two granddaughters, Jennifer Roberts of Wilmington and Noel Roberts of Burgaw; and a grandson, Tyler Roberts of Wilmington.
Memorials are suggested to the Elizabethtown Baptist Church CAC Fund, 1800 West Broad Street, Elizabethtown, N. C. 28337; or to the Elizabethtown Airport and Economic Development Commission, 466 Airport Road, Elizabethtown, N. C. 28337.
