Tar Heel 9

The Clarkton Reds improved to 10-0 Thursday afternoon taking a 10-9 win against Tar Heel.

Blake Davis pitched four innings for the Reds, striking out nine batters, walking five, and allowing two hits.

Sky Burney came on to pitch the fifth inning. He walked three and giving up three hits.

Josh Schultz went the distance for Tar Heel, striking out seven, walking four, and allowing eleven hits.

Daron Burney paced Clarkton at the plate batting 3-for-3. AJ McKoy and Sky Burney collected two hits each, while Nathan Hood, Xavier McKoy, Davis, and Deonta Antone added one hit apiece.

AJ McKoy and Xavier McKoy both hit homeruns in the contest.

Mikey Inman batted 2-for-2 to lead Tar Heel. Dakota Fields, Schultz, and Tevin Lesane all added one hit each.

Clarkton led 10-4 going into the bottom of the fifth inning before Tar Heel came up with five runs to account for the final score of 10-9.

Bladenboro Royals 11

Bladenboro Yankees 10

The Bladenboro Royals scored four runs in the bottom of the final inning to come from behind to beat the Bladenboro Yankees, 10-9, in a contest played at Wateree Park Saturday.

Blake Baysden started on the mound for the Royals. He struck out three and gave up four hits.

Cory White relieved Baysden in the second inning and finished the game. He struck out four.

Down 10-7 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Kendall Dove singled, White walked and Matthew Burney singled scoring Kendall.

After both runners advanced on a passed ball, Forrest Lennon doubled scoring White and Burney to tie the contest at 10-10.

Austin Bryan followed with a single that scored Lennon, giving the Royals the win.

Dove batted 2-for-3, Burney 2-for-3, White 1-for-2, Lennon 1-for-2, Chris Britt 1-for-2 and O'Brien Owens 1-for-2.

Brooks Yandell went the distance on the mound for the Yankees. He gave up eight hits and struck out six.

D. Brisson batted 2-for-3 for the Yankees, J. Washington 2-for-3, H. Strickland 1-for-3, M. Millwood 1-for-2, B. Yandell 1-for-2 and Z. Willoughby 1-for-2.

Gators win two

The Bladenboro Gators Coach-Pitch team clinched the championship in the Bladen County Dixie Youth Baseball League and improved to 11-0 with two wins last week.

The Gators defeated the Bladenboro Girls 22-7 and 19-5 in a double header.

In the first game, the Gators were led by Owen Babson, Travis Bowen, and Clay Allen with four hits each.

CJ Singletary, Brett Jackson, Parker Allen, and Channing Horton added three hits each.

Matthew Wells, and Austin Jernigan collected two hits each, while Travis Walters and Jordan Hughes collected one hit apiece.

Babson and Clay Allen both hit home runs in the game.

The Gators were paced in the second contest by Singletary, Jackson, Wells, Parker Allen, and Jernigan all batting 3-for-3.

Babson, Bowen, Clay Allen, and Evan Felts all added two hit each.

Joshua Autry, Hughes, and Horton collected one hit apiece.

Horton, Jernigan, and Babson all had home runs in the contest.

"It feels good to win the league!" said Gator Coach Joey Butler. "Bladen County has set the standard at the Coach-Pitch All-Star Tournaments the past two years. I just hope we can make a good showing this year as well."
