OCEAN ISLE BEACH -John H. Richards, 87, of Longwood Road NW in the Grissettown community, died Wednesday, December 25, in the Brunswick County Hospital.
Born in Charlotte on February 21, 1915, he was a son of the late William and Mamie Patrick Richards. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zelda Hewett Richards.
Prior to their retirement, he and his wife owned and operated Richards General Store in Grissettown. He was an Army veteran.
The funeral service will be conducted today (Friday) at 2:30 p. m. from the graveside at Brunswick Memorial Gardens, Shallotte.
Mr. Richards is survived by aa daughter, Zelda Harmon of Wilmington; a son, Larry Richards of Elizabethtown; a brother, James Richards of Kannapolis; six grandchildren, Diana McKenzie, Jonathan Babson, Richard Harmon, Tracy Harmon, Scott Harmon, and Jeffery Harmon; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 p. m. at the funeral home today (Friday).

Brunswick Funeral Service and Crematory of Shallotte is handling the arrangements.
