An Elizabethtown man is being held under $7,000 secured bond after police found him carrying cocaine and marijuana Friday.

Elizabethtown Police Chief Bobby Kinlaw said Stephen Singleton, 41, of 601 Melvin Dr., Elizabethtown, was arrested Friday on felony and misdemeanor charges of drug possession, resisting arrest, and assault by pointing a gun.

Kinlaw said Officer Jeremy Humphries was on routine patrol around 2 p.m. Friday when he spotted Singleton on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Officers were seeking Singleton in connection with an assault earlier his year when he allegedly threatened another man with a gun.

When Humphries and Sgt. Joe Thompson approached Singleton, Kinlaw, said the man pulled a plastic bag out of his pocket, threw it to one side and began running. Humphries and Thompson captured Singleton after a short foot chase.

Officers found four small bags of powdered cocaine in the bag Singleton tossed away, and officers also found a small quantity of marijuana, Kinlaw said.
