Alexander Paone, the grandson of Lena Smith of Clayton Pait Road, Bladenboro, has served during the summer as a page in the United States Senate.

Alexander is the son of Ruby and Marty Paone of Reston, Va. He is a student at South Lakes High School in where he plays varsity football, varsity soccer, and is on the school's wrestling team. In addition to his school sports, he plays on a Division Two NCSL soccer team near his hometown.

As a page, Alexander runs errands and delivers documents throughout the capitol building complex for the senators, who include North Carolina's John Edwards.

"It's like a dream come true," says Alexander. "I love meeting new people, and Senator Edwards is such a great guy."

Alexander enjoys visiting his grandmother and his family in Bladen during vacations and holidays.
