East and West Bladen high schools have games scheduled for this coming week. Both schools have scrimmage football games set and both will get their regular season volleyball play underway.
The East Bladen soccer team will play its opening match next week, but West Bladen does not have a match scheduled until the middle of September. Some earlier matches may be added to the schedule according to athletic director Joey Autry.
Womens tennis will get underway at West Bladen this coming week, with East Bladen opening its schedule next week.
The West Bladen cross-country schedule has net been set yet. East Bladen does not have a cross-country team.
East Bladen
East Bladen will hold its first scrimmage football game tomorrow night (Saturday) when the Eagles host the South Robeson Mustangs. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Next Tuesday night (August 13), East Bladen will scrimmage Purnell Swett at 7 p.m.
Again this season, the Eagles will participate in the Sampson County Football Jamboree at Clinton's Dark Horse Stadium.
Eight teams will participate in the event beginning at 6 p.m. In the first contest, East Bladen will take on Hobbton. James Kenan will play Union at 7 p.m., North Duplin takes on Midway at 8 p.m., and Lakewood plays Clinton at 9 p.m.
East Bladen's first regular season football game is scheduled for September 6 when the Eagles host the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes. East Bladen has an open date on August 30, the first play date of the season.
Veteran football coach Lenon Fisher is returning again this year.
East Bladen is scheduled to gets its volleyball season underway Monday (August 12). The team is scheduled to play Fairmont at 5 p.m.. The next volleyball contest is set for August 20 when the Lady Eagles hosts Red Springs at 5 p.m..
Jennifer Hair takes over as volleyball coach for the Lady Eagles this season.
The first women's tennis match is scheduled for August 21 when the Lady Eagles take on the Red Springs Lady Red Devils.
Sherry Melvin is coaching the girls tennis team this season.
The soccer season is set to get underway Monday night (August 12) when the Eagles travel to Ashley High in Wilmington. The match is set for 7 p.m.
On Wednesday (August 14) the Eagles are set to host the Hoggard jayvees at 5 p.m.
The East Bladen soccer team is coached by Richard Adasian.
West Bladen
The West Bladen Knights are set to open football scrimmage play Friday (August 16) when the squad hosts West Columbus. The team also has a scrimmage game set for August 22 when the Knights travel to Union.
The first regular season football contest will be August 30 when the Knights host Lakewood.
The West Bladen team is coached by Jason Biggs. This is Biggs first year at the school.
The Lady Knights volleyball regular season play is scheduled to get underway Tuesday (August 13) when West Bladen host Whiteville.
On Thursday night (August 15) the Lady Knights are set to travel to East Columbus, and on August 19 the team will travel to West Brunswick for volleyball matches.
Teresa Coleman returns as volleyball coach for the Lady Knights.
The women tennis season is scheduled to get underway Monday (August 12) when West Bladen travels to South Columbus. The Lady Knights also have matches set for Wednesday, August 14 and Thursday the 15.
On Wednesday the team will host West Columbus and on Thursday the squad will host Whiteville. Matches are set for 4 p.m.
Chris Dutton is in her first year as tennis coach for the Lady Knights.
