According to a report by N.C. State Trooper S.S. Canady, Jody Gerald Japarks was travelling east on N.C. 24 toward the Hayne community when he crossed the center line, striking a westbound tractor-trailer.
A second tractor-trailer then hit the first truck. Neither truck driver was injured.
Japarks, who was 21, lived at 2793 Johnsontown Rd., Elizabethtown.
Japarks was airlifted to Duke University Medical Center, where he died around 10 p.m. Thursday night.
