White Lake Fire Chief Dale Brennan said the fire was reported around 7:20 a.m. Friday morning on Gooden Street. A passerby spotted one trailer on fire and called 911.
WLVFD firefighters responded immediately, along with personnel and equipment from Hickory Grove, Bay Tree, and Elizabethtown.
Between $50,000 and $60,000 damage was reported, Brennan said. Firefighters approached the blaze both from Gooden and TGIF Streets.
Camp Clearwater is one of the largest resort communities in the area.
The destroyed campers were owned by Scott Johnson of Dunn and Jamie Tyndall of White Lake. The damaged campers were owned by Gene Grice of Clinton, Shannon Brown of Selma, and Bobby Tarlton of Cedar Grove.
The fire apparently started at Tyndall's camper at Lot 15, Gooden Street, then spread to Johnson's camper at Lot 19, then spread to the other campers, Brennan said.
State Bureau of Investigation arson investigators were called to the scene after witnesses reported seeing strangers in the area, while other witnesses reported hearing an explosion, Brennan said.
Investigators found no evidence to suggest the fires were intentionally set, Brennan said.
No one was injured in the fire, Brennan said.
