Bladen County Adopt-a-Cop wildly exceeds expectations

ELIZABETHTOWN — On Friday, around 120 people gathered at Cape Fear Vineyard & Winery for the dissemination of gifts donated for the Bladen County Adopt-A-Cop program.

Within 12 hours of its inception, all 112 officers in Bladen County had been adopted, and within 72 hours, all officers with the Elizabethtown, Bladenboro, and White Lake police departments, the Sheriff’s Office, state park and wildlife officers, and K-9 Jaxx had been adopted twice.

Gifts ranged from books to grilling baskets to car cleaning kits. The program was so unexpectedly successful that the organizers had to change venues twice.
