Three teams from Bladen County will open the 2016 state playoffs on Wednesday, and all three will have home games.

On the baseball diamond …

The East Bladen Eagles — conference champions for the first time since 1997 — will host the Currituck Knights on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Class 2-A East bracket.

East Bladen finished the regular season with a 15-6 overall mark and 11-3 in the Four County Conference. Currituck is 11-12 overall and was 7-6 in the Northeastern Coastal Conference. The Eagles are the No. 5 seed, while the Knights are No. 28.

On the softball diamond …

The West Bladen Lady Knights will host the Franklinton Lady Rams on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

West Bladen finished the regular season as the No. 1 Class 2-A team out of the Four County Conference with a record of 14-8 overall and 11-3 in the conference. Franklinton is 11-6 overall and was 8-6 in the Northern Carolina Conference. The Lady Knights are the No. 9 seed and the Lady Rams are the No. 24 seed.

On the soccer pitch …

The No. 10 seed East Bladen Lady Eagles will host the No. 23 seed Randleman Lady Tigers on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Class 2-A East playoffs.

The Lady Eagles are 18-2 overall and were 12-2 in the Four County Conference, while the Lady Tigers are 6-12 overall and were 4-4 in the PAC-6 Conference.

Outside the county …

The Harrells Crusaders baseball team, 12-11 overall and 6-2 in the Cape Fear Independent Conference, will host the Trinity School of Durham Lions, 8-10-1 overall and 6-5 in the NCISAA Triad Conference, on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

The Crusaders are seeded No. 8 and the Lions are the No. 8 seed in the NCISAA Class 2-A playoffs.
