ELIZABETHTOWN — A local effort to assist the residents of Flint, Mich,. with their water woes has been sparked by a radio show host with WBLA 1440AM in Elizabethtown.
Bishop Lowery, host of the Bishop Lowery Morning Show from 6 to 10 a.m., is sponsoring a collection of bottled water that will be delivered to Flint, Mich., later this month.
The collection of bottled water cases will take place through March 17.
“I just felt the need — we never know when something might happen to us,” Lowery said. “I think the listeners (of WBLA) can really help others in need.”
He added that there is no monetary contribution being requested, only cases of bottled water.
“I’d love to see churches, youth groups, businesses, civic groups, school groups — really, anyone — get involved with this,” Lowery said.
He added that cases of bottled water can be delivered to the radio station, located at 512 Peanut Road in Elizabethtown. Anyone with more than 10 cases can call 910-862-2000 and request a pick-up.
He also said anyone with questions about the bottled water collection can call him at 910-445-6445.
