ELIZABETHTOWN — Healthworks Fitness & Wellness has new owners in Ashley and Tracey Trivette.

“An opportunity presented itself and I talked about it with Tracey,” said Trivette.

She said they went over the opportunity, studied it and discussed what their role as owners would look like before agreeing it was a good opportunity.

“I love the employees we have here,” said Trivette.

She has worked at Healthworks for the past two years as a personal trainer and said she has been a member of a gym since she was 14 years old.

“I’ve always been involved with health and I try to be health conscious,” said Trivette.

She said there are big plans in store for the gym.

“We have purchased some new equipment from Life Fitness,” said Trivette.

She added that the gym also offers classes including, but not limited to, Total Aerobics, BEND, Kickboxing, Hip Hop Abs, Step N’ Tone, Pilates, Cross Fitness, and Yoga.

The gym also offers karate classes to ages 2 and up on Saturday’s from 10 a.m. until noon.

Trivette said the pool is also available for use. In addition to aquatic classes, the pool is available for use for birthday parties or youth activities such as boy scouts. You do not have to be a member to rent the pool for parties or group activities.

Trivette added there is a pool-only membership available for $32 that allows members to use the pool, steam room, shower area, and take part in aquatic exercise classes. Folks do need to bring their own pool towel as the gym only offers handtowels.

Trivette said she is also exploring the requirements for offering an after-school program for children and teens. She said the vision is to offer activities at the gym after school such as an open swim for the children, teens and young adults. Trivette said parents are more than welcome to come.

Trivette has added new uniforms for the staff and said the uniforms help folks at the gym to determine who is working if they should need assistance or have questions.

The Silver Sneakers and Silver Fit programs are continuing at the gym. Trivette said that for those seniors whose insurance offers the programs, the gym staff can help them get enrolled. She said generally all it takes is a simple telephone call to learn if the individual’s insurance will pay for the program.

“It is definitely worth the phone call and we will be happy to assist anybody in any way we can,” said Trivette.

Trivette said the gym is continuing its spray tanning sessions with tan technician Jennifer Potter and Mary Caitlin Clark-Campbell is also offering personal training sessions for folks. The gym will continue to offer the smoothie bar which is open to the general public.

Folks can explore some of Healthworks’ membership and class offerings at their website at www.healthworksnc.com. Trivette said the website is being updated with when classes meet and the business hours have been updated.

Dawan Pearson, a staff member of Healthworks, said, “As far as our working relationship, as a manger and employees goes, its better than it’s ever been.”

He said that Trivette has begun to implement some of the changes that members have been asking for.

“Ashley is very hands-on with the gym,” said Pearson.
