Bowlers being sought for two leagues

LUMBERTON — Looking for something fun to do? Why not join a bowling league?

The Green Pins League at Lumberton Bowling Center is looking for individuals or three-person teams to join the fall/winter session, which begins Oct. 2 and runs 7 to 9 p.m. each Sunday. Free games and trophies are awarded. The league consists of youth and adults, and costs $11 per bowler.

The league will begin on Oct. 23.

Youth and adult bowlers are also needed for the Thursday night Carolina Doubles league, which runs 7 to 8:30 p.m. and will begin Oct. 6. End-of-the-season awards are presented. Cost is $11 per bowler.

The league will begin on Oct. 20.

Golf tournament reset for Oct. 22

WHITE LAKE — The second anniversary Golf Tourney at Vineyard Golf of White Lake has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22, because of impending severe weather from Hurricane Matthew.

The tournament will be a four-man Captain’s Choice format, and the cost per team is $260. Hole sponsorships are also available at $100 each.

There will be hole-in-one prizes on all par 3s, including a car on No. 16. On hole No. 5 there will be a $5,000 award for the first hole-in-one, and a $5,000 putting contest will be held ($10 per player). There will be a meal served following play.

This year’s tournament proceeds will benefit the Bladen Crisis Center.
