Lady Knights whip East Columbus in tennis, 8-1


DUBLIN — The West Bladen tennis team hosted East Columbus on Wednesday and handed the visiting Lady Gators an 8-1 non-conference loss.

In singles, No. 1 Alanna Ludlum took an 8-2 win; No. 2 Amber Long won 8-3; No. 3 Helen Lopez dropped a tough 9-8 (7-4) match; No. 4 Conner Brisson earned an 8-2 win; No. 5 Savannah Lee took an 8-2 victory; and No. 6 Autumn Brisson woin, 8-3.

In doubles, the Lady Knights’ No. 1 duo of Ludlum and Long got an 8-3 win; No. 2 Conner Brisson and Lee teamed for an 8-3 win; and No. 3 Lopez and Autum Brisson took an 8-4 win.

“The girls are working hard in practice and they are improving and getting better,” Atkinson said. “The team is playing good and we are getting some wins, but we are still not where I know this team can be .”

West Bladen will return to action on Wednesday when it hosts Purnell Sweat in a non-conference match at 4 p.m.
