Wednesday roundup: Lady Knights get tennis win over East Columbus

DUBLIN —West Bladen swept the singles matches against visiting East Columbus on Wednesday and went on to take an 8-1 non-conference win.

Alanna Ludlum earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, while Amber Long followed suit with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2. Helen Lopez fought for a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 3; Conner Brisson earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4; Savannah Lee got an easy 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5; and Autumn Brisson took a hard-fought 7-6 (7-4), 1-6, 1-0 (10-6) win at No. 6

In doubles, Ludlum and Long stayed undefeated with an 8-2 win at No. 1; Lopez and Alyssa Bell teamed for an 8-1 win at No. 3.

“Alanna Ludlum and Amber Long both had solid performance on the court (and ) our younger players are stepping up their games,” West Bladen coach Jeff Atkinson said. “Still some areas of concern with our doubles. Just trying to find the right combination of girls at our 2 and 3 doubles team.”

The Lady Knights are now 4-0 this season.




The Lady Eagles swept past East Columbus in straight sets on the volleyball court Tuesday by the scores of 27-25, 25-21 and 25-20.




West Bladen whipped Purnell Swett on the pitch Wednesday, 4-1, in a non-conference matchup

The Knights improved to 4-0.
