Advantage Basketball camps scheduled


WHITEVILLE — Advantage Basketball Camps will run two summer camps at Whiteville High — the first from June 27 through June 29; the second from June 27 through July 1 — from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day for ages 6 to 18.

The three-day camp fee will be $195 per camper; the five-day camp fee will be $265 per camper.

Ball-handling and shooting skills will be featured, but all aspects of the game wlil be worked on. Tracy Reid, former UNC Tar Heel All-American and WNBA Rookie of the Year will run the camp.

Lil’ Knights Basketball Camp set


DUBLIN — West Bladen High School will again host its annual Lil’ Knights Basketball Camp for boys and girls going into the first through sixth grades.

The camp — which will be held Monday, July 12, through Wednesday, July 14 — will cost $50 per participant and will include basketball instruction from the high-school basketball coaches as well as a camp T-shirt and basketball.

During the three-day camp, participants will receive age-appropriate skills and fundamentals.

Registration for the camp will be held Monday, June 13, between 5 and 8 p.m. at West Bladen High — or registrations can be mailed to: West Bladen Athletic Association, P.O. Box 947, Bladenboro, N.C. 28320 (checks should be made payable to West Bladen Athletic Association).


Fishing tournament set for June 24-25


ELIZABETHTOWN — Elizabethtown Church of God, located at 1767 N.C. Hwy. 242 North in Elizabethtown, will host a fishing tournament on Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25.

There will be a $25 entry fee with $500 payout for catfish with a minimum of 50 entries and 50/50 payout for panfish.

The tournament will start at 5 p.m. with a meal and devotion. Final weigh-in will be Saturday at 8 p.m. All proceeds will go to the church’s Men’s Fellowship.
