ELIZABETHTOWN — East Bladen and visiting South Columbus battled to a split of their Dixie Youth Pre-Majors double-header on Thursday.

The split pushed the Eagles’ record in the summer season to 3-1-2.

East Bladen got just enough offense in the opener to push across two runs, while the stellar pitching of Devon Stocks across four innings, and the one-inning of relief work by Xavier Wooten kept the Stallions’ bats quiet enough to take a 2-1 win.

Stocks gave up the one run and earned the win on the mound, while Wooten’s effort earned him the save.

Kyle Tatum and Sincere Smith each smacked singles and stole two bases, while Wooten added a stolen base for the Eagles.

In the nightcap, Wooten returned to the hill in a starting roll for East Bladen, but lasted only two innings — and South Columbus went on to take the second game, 3-1.

Wooten’s triple in the game helped produce the Eagles lone run, while Tatum and Ty Watkins each had singles. On the base paths, Tatum and Smith stole two more bases, while Wooten also had a theft.

Spencer Scott pitched three innings of relief for East Bladen to finish the game.
