ELIZABETHTOWN — The No. 28 seeded Currituck County Knights came to town and put an end to East Bladen’s stellar season on Wednesday, upsetting the No. 5 seed Eagles 6-5 in the opening round of the state’s Class 2-A East playoffs.

The loss ends East Bladen’s season at 15-7 just days after winning the Four County Conference regular-season crown with an 11-3 record, its first since winning the Three Rivers Conference title in 1997.

Coach Russell Priest’s Eagles stumbled at the end of the season, dropping four of its final five games.

Currituck County moves on to play at First Flight on Saturday. The Knights and Nighthawks split two games during the regular season in conference play.
