CLINTON – It was a showdown between conference leader Clinton and top-spot chaser East Bladen, which entered Thursday’s match one game behind. But East Bladen’s high-powered offense was shut down and its solid defense was broken by a Clinton team that hasn’t tasted defeat in Four County Conference action yet this season.

After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, the Lady Dark Horses scored all the goals they would need in the latter part of the first half, taking a 4-0 advantage into halftime.

Clinton tacked on a pair of goals in the second half to seal the win — moving to 14-4 overall and an unblemished 10-0 in the conference. The Lady Eagles had their seven-match winning streak snapped and fell to 14-2 overall, 7-2 in the conference. East Bladen’s only other loss this season was a 9-0 defeat on March 18 against Clinton.

The lady Eagles next match is scheduled for Tuesday when they host Hiedi Trask in a conference match at 6 p.m.
