DUBLIN — Visiting West Columbus scored in five of the seven innings Saturday and West Bladen errors helped the Vikings take a 12-9 non-conference win.

West Columbus opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first, but the Knights knotted the game with two runs in the home half of the second on and RBI single by Seth Britt and sacrifice fly by Ray Jones.

The Vikings answered with three runs in the third thanks to West Bladen errors, then tacked on two more runs in the fourth for a 7-2 lead.

The Knights scored a run in the bottom of the inning thanks to a walk, stolen base, passed ball and wild pitch.

But West Columbus extended its lead with two runs in the fifth to take a 9-3 edge. West Bladen came right back with four runs to climb back into the game — Jones had a two-run double, an errors brought the next two runs home as the Knights closed the gap to 9-7.

The Vikings all but put the game out of reach with three runs in the sixth to open a 12-7 advantage, then survived a West Bladen rally in the seventh when the Knights scored twice. Jones had his second double of the game and an error brought him home, then Chandler Lennon had an RBI single for the second run.

Weston Pidgeon was 3-for-4 at the plate and Jones was 2-for-3 with the two doubles and three RBI. Chandler Lennon was 2-for-5 with an RBI, Jarrett Williams was 2-for-3 and Seth Britt was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Trent West took the loss on the hill for the Knights, going five innings and allowing five hits, two walks, a hit batter and fanning one.
