DUBLIN — West Bladen swept the doubles matches and knocked off visiting West Columbus on a non-conference doubleheader on Friday, 7-2 and 5-2.

The wins improve the Knights to 5-2 overall.

In the opener, West Bladen got four wins in singles action — Victor Jacome won at No. 1 by a 6-1, 6-2 verdict; Manuel Arvizu won at No. 3 by a 6-2, 4-6 and 10-7 score; Tate Sykes took a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 5; and Jose Osorio earned a 6-4, 4-6 and 10-8 win at No. 6.

In doubles matches, the No. 1 duo for West Bladen of Jacome and Matthew Bobby took an 8-2 win; Arvizu and Felix Rebollar teamed for a 9-7 win at No. 2; and the tandem of Osorio and Tate Sykes earned an 8-8 (7-1) win at No. 3 to wrap up the first team victory.

In the second match, Jacome took an 8-2 win at No. 1 singles; Rebollar earned an 8-8 (7-4) win at No. 4; Sykes won at No. 5 by an 8-8 (7-3) verdict; and Osorio won 8-1 at No. 6.

In the one doubles match played, Jacome and Bobby teamed up to finish the match with a hard-fought 8-8 (7-1) victory.

— In Pembroke on Thursday, the Lady Knights got whitewashed by Purnell Swett in a non-conference match, 9-0.

The Lady Rams took a 5-0 lead into halftime, then added four more goals in the second half to seal the win.

West Bladen fell to 1-7 overall, while Purnell Swett improved to 5-1-1.

— In Elizabethtown, the visiting Lady Dark Horses gave East Bladen its first loss of the season Friday with a 9-0 Four County Conference whitewashing.

After taking a 1-0 first-half lead, Clinton tallied eight goals in the second half to claim the win.

East Bladen is now 7-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
