DUBLIN — A 12-0 run by visiting Clinton to close the first half proved to be the beginning of the end for the Lady Knights on Friday, but a total of 32 turnovers against the conference’s second-best team were costly and West Bladen took a 60-44 Four County loss.

The Lady Knights are now 7-14 overall and 5-7 in the conference.

West Bladen opened the game with a 4-0 spurt, but the Lady Dark Horses responded with a 12-1 run for a 12-5 lead after the first quarter.

The Lady Knights used several free throws to open the second stanza with a 12-5 burst that knotted the game at 17-17,but Clinton went on another 12-0 run to take a 27-15 advantage into halftime.

The visitors opened the second half with an 8-4 spurt, then finished the third quarter with an 11-4 run to open a 46-27 lead going into the final 8 minutes.

Akira Grimes sank consecutive baskets and Laikyn Pait drained several free throws as West Bladen tried to make a comeback, but turnovers killed any rally and, although the Lady Knights won the fourth quarter 17-14, the game was lost.

Pait led the Lady Knights with a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
