DUBLIN — The Lady Knights fought, battled and clawed every minute of Tuesday’s game with visiting Wallace-Rose Hill, but came up just short in the end, falling in the Four County Conference game 43-38.

The Lady Bulldogs opened a quick 6-2 lead to start the game, but West Bladen answered with an 8-0 run highlighted by a three-pointer from Akira Grimes. The Lady Knights took a 12-10 lead into the second stanza.

Wallace-Rose Hill used a 6-0 spurt to take a 16-12 lead, but the Lady Knights responded with a 9-2 burst to finish the half and went into halftime with a 21-18 lead.

Laikyn Pait drained a long three-pointer in the third quarter, but the Lady Bulldogs outscored West Bladen by a 14-7 margin to take a 32-28 advantage into the final 8 minutes of play.

The Lady Knights went on a 7-2 run to open the fourth quarter, but Wallace-Rose Hill stormed back with 5-1 spurt to take a 39-38 lead with just over a minute to play. The Lady Bulldogs used a trio of free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Pait led West Bladen with a double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. Kaylee Stevens grabbed six rebounds and Grimes had seven points with a three-pointer.
