DUBLIN — The Lady Knights won their third straight game, with a 62-56 triple-overtime Four County Conference victory over visiting Pender County on Wednesday.

West Bladen improved to 5-7 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

Laikyn Pait turned in a monster game with a double-double, pouring in 31 points — including four three-pointers and went 13-of-15 at the free throw line to lead the Lady Knights. She also pulled down 30 rebounds.

“This game was an all-out brawl,” said West Bladen coach Rick Rhoda.

Already playing without post player Jenna Dove, who is out with an ankle injury, West Bladen lost Kaylee Stevens on Wednesday when she took a charge, hit the floor hard and was carried to the hospital with a concussion and sprained clavicle.

In addition, two players fouled out of the game for the Lady Knights before the win was secured.

“Alanna Ludlum hit four free throws in overtime that were big for us,” Rhoda said. “I’m proud the girls played hard 100 percent of the time, which is what I’ve been preaching to them. These wins are coming at a good time.”

Jerena Purdie finished with nine points for West Bladen, while Akira Grimes drained a three-pointer.
