ELIZABETHTOWN — The Lady Eagles put Monday’s game with Whiteville away early, racing out to leads of 24-3 and 44-8 in the first half, then coasted to a 59-23 non-conference win in the East Bladen Holiday Classic.

The Lady Eagles got an old-fashioned three-point play and three-point shot from Lacey Suggs early in the game to spark the surge. East Bladen executed at both ends of the floor and finished the first quarter with the 24-3 advantage.

The momentum continued into the second stanza, as Suggs had another old-fashioned three-point play and Abby Ward drained a last-second three-pointer as East Bladen outscored the Lady Wolfpack by a 20-5 margin and took a 44-8 lead into halftime.

The Lady Eagles saw its bench get plenty of action in the second half and still stayed right with Whiteville down the stretch.

Suggs led east Bladen with 20 points — 18 coming in the first half — and added four steals. Ward scored 11 points with seven assists, seven rebounds and four steals. Ashley Hardin had eight points and seven rebounds.
