DUBLIN — Visiting West Columbus broke open a tight game with a huge 17-0 explosion in the second half to beat the Lady Knights in a non-conference matchup Friday, 40-22.
The loss drops West Bladen to 2-4 overall.
The Lady Vikings opened the game with a 7-0 spurt, but the Lady Knights responded with a 5-2 run to finish the quarter trailing by just 9-5.
In the second stanza, scoring was at a premium, as the visitors managed to take a 12-10 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, West Bladen went on a 7-3 run to take a 17-15 edge, but the Lady Vikings finished the period with an 11-0 burst to take a 26-17 lead into the final 8 minutes.
That run continued into the fourth quarter, as West Columbus scored the period’s first six points for a 32-17 advantage. West Bladen stopped the bleeding with a 5-0 run to pull within 32-22, but could get no closer.
Laikyn Pait led West Bladen with seven points and had three rebounds. Jerena Purdie had four rebounds.
