West Bladen to host cheerleading camp

DUBLIN — The West Bladen varsity cheerleaders will host a Mini Cheerleading Camp next month for ages 3 to 13.

The camp will be held July 20 through July 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. The final day will be Parent Day.

The cost will be $50 per participant, which includes a West Bladen Knights cheerleading T-shirt and light refreshments every afternoon.

All participates will also cheer at the varsity football game on Friday, Sept. 11.

Applications can be downloaded off the WBHS website at www.westbladen.nc.bch.schoolsites.com or picked up at West Bladen High School. The application deadline is June 30.

Desmond Bryant Football Camp set

ELIZABETHTOWN — The annual Desmond Bryant Football Camp will be held on July 11 at East Bladen High School.

The camp is free and interested participants can register upon arrival at the camp. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with the camp starting at 8:45 a.m.

Participants should bring cleats and/or tennis shoes.

All participants will receive a free camp T-shirt.

Trio of soccer camps to be held

ELIZABETHTOWN — Area youth soccer players will have the opportunity to attend one of three soccer camps this summer at East Bladen High.

The camps will be run by Eagles coach Jay Raynor, along with current and former East Bladen soccer players.

— Camp Session 1: The camp will be held June 22-25 from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 5 to 18. The cost will be $100 for each participant, with a family discount of $90 for each participant if there are two family members participating, and $85 each if a family has three or more participating.

All participants will receive a camp shirt if they signed up by Thursday, June 18.

— Goal Keeper Academy: Will be held from June 30 through July 2 from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 10 to 18. The cost will be $80 per participant. Family discounts are $70 per kid for two children and $65 per participant for three or more children.

— Camp Session 3: Will run from July 27 through July 30 from 9 a.m. to noon and will be identical to the fees and ages to Camp Session 1.

The two camp sessions will be capped at 40 participants each, and the Goal Keeper Academy will be capped at 10 participants based on a first come, first served basis.

Lil’ Knights Basketball Camp scheduled

DUBLIN — Woodmen of the World Life Insurance will be sponsoring the Lil’ Knights Basketball Camp at West Bladen High between July 6-8 for boys and girls from rising first-graders to rising sixth-graders.

The camp will run 8 a.m. to noon each day, with dropoffs expected at 7:30 a.m. and pickups at 12:30 p.m.

Registration will take place at West Bladen High from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on June 11, or by mail at West Bladen Athletic Association, P.O. Box 947, Bladenboro, N.C. 28320. Cost is $40 for the first participant, $70 for two and $90 for three.

The camp will include skills, drills, contests and games — all led by high school coaches and college players. Campers will use 8-foot goals for grades 1-3 and 9-foot for grades 4-6. Snacks will be available for purchase in the canteen daily. Each camper will receive a camp basketball and t-shirt

West Bladen to host free football camp

DUBIN — West Bladen High and the Knights would host the second annual Richard Howell Youth Football Camp on Saturday, June 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with check-in time between 8:30 and 9 a.m. It is open to all area youth between the ages of 7 and 14.

There is no cost for the camp, and each participant will receive a free camp T-shirt.

To register for the camp, interested individuals can go online at http://usafootball.com/fun and click on the “REGISTER” button next to the Richard Howell Youth Football Camp post.

The Richard Howell Youth Football Camp is part of the National Football League’s “Play 60” movement and is operated under USA Football.

Kickball tournament to be held

***

ELIZABETHTOWN — Sword of the Lord Ministries will be sponsoring a church kickball tournament on Saturday, June 20, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Leinwand Park in Elizabethtown.

The day-long event will also include a motorcycle and car show, horse and pony rides, food and games, water balloon games and vendors.

Interested vendors should call Joe Lowery at 910-445-6455 to make arrangements.

“It’s just a day for fun and fellowship,” Lowery said.

Churches interested in participating should also call Lowery to sign up for the tournament. There is no entry fee and churches can challenge each other ahead of time.
