ELIZABETHTOWN — Senior Night for the East Bladen Eagles went slightly awry when the visiting Union Spartans took a 2-1 Four County Conference win in double-overtime on Monday.

The loss drops East Bladen to 5-14 overall and 2-11 in the conference, while the Spartans improved to 16-3 and 10-3.

After a lengthy battle through much of the first half, Union got on the board first with a goal in the 28th minute and took that 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Eagles managed to knot the game at 1-1 in the second half’s 33rd minute on a goal by Alex Felder off a pass from Brooks McGill, forcing overtime to decide a winner.

After a scoreless first over time, the Spartans found the back of the net with 7 minutes left in the second overtime to earn the win.

Spencer Scott kept East Bladen in the match with nine second-half saves in goal and totaled 12 in the match.

Felder and Robert Fletcher were honored by the Eagles as the team’s seniors.

Midway thumps West

The Raiders of Midway roared out to a 6-0 halftime lead and never looked back Monday, notching a 10-1 Four County Conference win over visiting West Bladen.

The loss drops the Knights to 4-15-2 overall and 1-12 in the conference, while Midway improves to 9-9-2 and 5-8.

The Raiders broke the match open early, scoring three goals in the first 15 minutes of play en route to the 6-0 lead at intermission.

Midway added four more goals in the second half around an unassisted goal by Victor Lopez for the Knights.
