Union nips East; West falls hard at Midway

ELIZABETHTOWN — Senior Night for the East Bladen Eagles went slightly awry when the visiting Union Spartans took a 2-1 Four County Conference win in double-overtime on Monday.

After a lengthy battle through much of the first half, Union got on the board first with a goal in the 28th minute and took that 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Eagles managed to knot the game at 1-1 in the second half’s 33rd minute on a goal by Alex Felder off a pass from Brooks McGill, forcing overtime to decide a winner.

After a scoreless first over time, the Spartans found the back of the net with 7 minutes left in the second overtime to earn the win.

Spencer Scott kept East Bladen in the match with nine second-half saves in goal and totaled 12 in the match.

Felder and Robert Fletcher were honored by the Eagles as the team’s seniors.
