ROCKY POINT — East Bladen racked up 453 yards offense on Friday, highlighted by more than 375 yards on the ground, and rolled past Heidi Trask in a Four County Conference game, 35-7.

The win improved the Eagles to 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference, while the Titans fell to 1-7, 0-4.

With East Bladen’s starting backfield out with injuries, coach Robby Priest has seen some success with the likes of Kyle Tatum, Bernard Robinson and Xavia McDowell toting the ball, with Alex Coates leading the offense at quarterback.

The Eagles put together a 77-yard, 10-play drive in the first quarter, finished off with a 1-yard touchdown run by Tatum after big gains by Robinson. Jesus Ramos added the PAT to give East Bladen a 7-0 edge with 2:30 left in the first frame.

Early in the second quarter, East Bladen put together another long drive, this time marching 71 yards in seven plays, to find pay dirt. Robinson earned the touchdown with a 27-yard run and Ramos added the point after for a 14-0 lead with 9:22 left in the half.

After the two teams traded turnovers, the Eagles went 58 yards for a touchdown — the score coming on a 45-yard pass from Coates to Sincere Smith. Ramos’ extra point put East Bladen up 21-0 with 4:20 on the second quarter clock.

East Bladen’s defense gave up its first first down to Trask late in the half, but didn’t break further. The Eagles threatened just before halftime, but couldn’t break through, taking the 21-0 lead into intermission.

Heidi Trask took the second half kickoff and marched 90 yards in just five plays to reach the end zone. The PAT pulled the Titans to within 21-7 less than 2 minutes into the third quarter.

The Eagles responded with a 45-yard drive that fizzled at the Trask 29, but Michael Walters pounced on a Trask fumble to give the ball back to East Bladen. From the Titans’ 25, Tatum completed a four-play drive with a 1-yard touchdown. Ramos booted the extra point for a 28-7 Eagles lead with 1:30 left in the quarter.

The Titans drove deep into East Bladen territory, but the drive stalled at the Eagles’ 27 after a penalty. East Bladen couldn’t manufacture anything and Trask took over — but McDowell scooped up a Titans’ fumble and returned it 24 yards to the Trask 27. In five plays, the Eagles scored when Tatum punched the ball in from 2 yards out. Ramos added the extra point to give East Bladen its final 37-7 margin with just over 5 minutes left in the game.

Tatum led the Eagles’ ground game with 142 yard and three touchdowns on 24 carries, while Robinson had 115 yards rushing on 14 carries. McDowell added 86 yards on 14 carries.

Coates was 2-for-6 through the air for 76 yards and a touchdown. Smith had a catch for 45 yards and a touchdown, while Zachary Johnson had the other catch for 31 yards.
