Lady Eagles sweep Union

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Lady Eagles survived a first-game battle with visiting Union High on Thursday before putting the Lady Spartans away in straight sets for a Four County Conference volleyball win.

It was the seventh victory in eight conference matches for East Bladen, this one coming by the scores of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-8.

The Lady Eagles also celebrated Senior Night, honoring seniors Lacey Suggs, Abby Ward, Claire Campbell and Miller Heustess before their final regular-season home match.

Suggs then went out and posted her second straight double-double for East Bladen, coming up with 15 service winners and 10 kills. Heustess narrowly missed a double-double when she contributed 20 assists and nine service points.

Lexi Mendell added a whopping 15 kills for the Lady Eagles and Campbell had 10 service points with five aces and three kills. Hannah DeVane recorded nine service points and a pair of kills.

East Bladen improved to 11-8 overall and 8-5 in the conference, while the Lady Spartans fell to 4-13 overall and 3-9 in conference.

The Lady Eagles will travel across the county to face West Bladen on Tuesday.
